Today marks the biggest occassion on the Rugby calendar for 2023 as Pirates Rugby Club takes center stage to host the Central North GRAND FINAL. Heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal 1st XV and 2nd XV teams for a triumphant season that led them to secure the Minor Premiership and the honor of hosting this significant event. After a span of several years, we're back with a home grand final, and it's time to seize the opportunity to its fullest and finish the season with a BANG!.

As we gather to celebrate this remarkable achievement, let's also remember to uphold the principles of the rugby code of conduct. We emphasize the importance of respect and camaraderie among players, supporters, and everyone present. Abusive or offensive language has no place here – we're dedicated to maintaining a positive and respectful environment. Remember: Show respect to be respected, or appropriate action will be taken, including removal from the grounds.

Today holds significance beyond being our last round game of the season at home, as we gather to honour and extend our congratulations to Brendan Rixon on achieving 200 first grade games (201 technically, however we wanted to celebrate it at home)

We also wish to congratulate our 2nd grade side as they take out the Minor Premiership for 2023, being 10 points clear on the ladder. If they win today, that’s an undefeated year, a huge achievement and massive congratulations to all those involved as it has been a huge group effort.

Today holds significance beyond being ladies’ day, as we gather to honour and extend our congratulations to Simon “Golden Boots” Trappel. In a historic feat, he has become the first individual within our club to achieve the remarkable milestone of 300 games. Simon's indelible impact has reverberated both on and off the field.

Emerging as a prolific goal scorer during his formative years, Simon has grown into an unwavering pillar of strength for both the first and second grades.
